While many individuals can pursue a teaching career the traditional way through obtaining an undergraduate degree in education, some states offer alternative pathways for college graduates. If you have already earned a degree within another discipline, it may be possible to take evening or weekend courses to earn an alternative certification within the teaching niche. Upon graduation of this certificate program, you would be eligible to apply for a variety of education opportunities within your state.
Get Involved
One of the best ways to learn about a new industry is to interact with current industry professionals. Volunteer to act as a student or teacher’s aide, interact with children who fall into the age bracket you wish to teach and search for other industry volunteer opportunities. There are a variety of programs available within every state and every school district will enable you to learn more about education, teaching and whether or not it is the best fit for you. |
