The National Employment Matrix has provided the following projections for the employment growth within the education industry:
Employment within the teaching field overall is expected to grow nearly 12% over the prior year
Preschool and kindergarten teachers are expected to see one of the largest growths in employment this year, of nearly 23%; preschool teachers make up the bulk of this growth, with nearly 26% growth expected
Elementary school teacher's employment is expected to grow over 13% over the prior year
Middle school teacher's employment is expected to grow in excess of 14% over the prior year’s growth
Vocational education opportunities are not expected to rise, but rather to decline nearly 5% in growth
Secondary education opportunities are expected to grow 6% next year.
Opportunities within the vocational education niche are expected to decline nearly 5% over the prior year
Overall, the employment opportunities for teachers are expected to expand, giving new graduates, career changers and those seeking to advance within the industry opportunities. Teaching opportunities will vary based upon where the school district is located, whether the school is public or private, the average economic status of the school district and the specific niche the teacher selects. |
