Of these 3.7 million teachers, only 0.5 million of them teach within private institutions. The number of public school teachers has been rising faster than the number of students enrolling in school, effectively working to decrease student/teacher ratios.
Salaries
The average salary for a teacher is currently near $49,100 per year, effectively rising on average with the national inflation rates.
