| Anheuser-Busch increases donation for Hispanic high schoolers |

Anheuser-Busch announced this week that it will donate $28,000 in school funding for the goal that was scored during the championship match of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
The beer giant originally pledged a $500 donation to the Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) for each goal scored, but with only a total of 145 accomplished during the Cup, the company saw fit to increase this total.
Margarita Flores, Anheuser-Busch director of community relations, said that the total was “one of the lowest in recent years. But because the HSF is such a worthy cause, we made Spain’s goal in the championship match worth an extra $28,000.”
This new pledge will bring the total donations to $100,000 for HSF, an organization which Anheuser-Busch has supported since 1982. Over 20,000 Hispanic students have received an education with help from scholarships provided by the organization.
HSF president Frank D. Alvarez stated that the donation will help Latino students who plan to attend 2,000 colleges and universities in America, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands.
Anheuser-Busch and over 600 national wholesalers have raised more than $24 million for HSF for over two decades. |
