Blockbuster has recently announced a new incentive program aimed at getting students in grades K-12 to work harder in school and improve their academic record. This initiative was designed to motivate students and provide teachers with a special tool to keep their classes on task as the end of the school year approaches.
As part of the company's "Good Grades, Free Rental" program, students from kindergarten through high school, who earn at least a B average on their report cards, will be awarded a complimentary movie rental. Each individual will be eligible once per grading period and must select a non-new film.
In order to receive their free rentals, students must bring in their report cards signed by their teachers and a parent. Blockbuster has stated that working to improve education in the country is something that the company feels strongly about.
"Blockbuster wants to help show students one of life's great lessons hard work has its rewards," said Kevin Lewis, the chief marketing officer at Blockbuster. "We believe the 'Good Grades, Free Rental' program gives teachers and parents another tool to provide positive reinforcement to school-age kids."
