Spread the word Borders offers publishing opportunities to teachers

4/4/2011

Some K-12 instructors have dreams of becoming a published author. However, many education jobs entail long hours and rigorous teaching requirements that make it difficult to pursue legitimate publishing opportunities.

Book retailer Borders aims to help educators fulfil a life-long goal by launching Get Published, a program that allows teachers to sell their work online. The promotion, which is offered exclusively to professional instructors, enables users to release their work using BookBrewer, a self-publishing tool.

The price of publishing packages range from $20 to $75, depending on the extent of the author's desired services. One package allows teachers to make their book available for purchase at Borders' eBook store as well as other online retailers, such as Amazon, Barnes and Noble and Apple iBooks. Users can format their selection to be displayed across several different platforms, including Android-powered tablets, the iPhone and iPad.

Educators can publish selections that fall into a wide range of genres, including novels and poetry. For example, early childhood teachers may want to publish the children's book they have been working on for years.

Furthermore, Get Published offers a Print on Demand feature, which provides a complimentary paperback version of the book.
